On Saturday, April 3, 2010 we hosted our
12th
Annual Bowlathon
to raise financial support for employment and adult day programs
serving individuals with disabilities. The event was another huge
success.
300 bowlers and another hundred non-bowling guests helped us to
raise $42,947 at our 12th Annual Bowlathon on April 3, 2010. Event
sponsors included Time Warner Cable, BJ’s Restaurant Foundation,
Pacifica Foods, Vogt Resnick Sherak, The Monkey Hook and FCE
Benefits. The Time Warner Team that included Erin O’Hara, Sharyn
O’Hara, Steve Orr, and Cliff Kagler won their challenge against 4
other Time Warner Teams and Overall First Place for the event. The
BJ’s Restaurant Team of Megan Tatum, Jim Farman, Shea Zerkie,
Anthony Mejia, and Michael Trong won the gold medal in their
challenge group. The Pacifica Foods challenge was won by the team of
Joe Preze, Tina Rice, Craig Rice, and Mark Sorenson (Elwyn
California Board Chairperson).
In addition to the teams from our sponsors, local Rotary Clubs
entered 13 teams in the event and Larry Cassidy, a former Elwyn
California board member, brought 12 teams to the event. The Orange
Sunrise Rotary Club took first place among all clubs and The Tustin
/ Santa Ana Club took second place. Winning the Larry Cassidy
challenge category was the team of Rich Herrera, Raul Noriega, Joel
Venegas, Sean Spurr, and Ernesto Villa from Spec Services.
The Fountain Valley City Council team defeated the FV Fire and
Police Department teams. The FV Police Department won their
challenge against the Fire Department this year and the Fire
Department graciously donated an additional $500 to Elwyn.
Bob Richardson, RWR Marketing & Graphic Design, donated his time and
talents to create our event print materials and as our emcee again
this year.
We will let everyone know the date for the 2011 Bowlathon as soon as
it is set. We sold out this year so make sure to reserve your spot
as early as possible for next year. Thanks to one and all for your
support.
