Elwyn has been continuously seeking innovative
ways to fulfill our mission and to decrease reliance on government
funding. In February 2002, California Elwyn purchased an AIM
Mail Center Franchise. Our AIM Mail Center provides first class
business services including: shipping, packing, mailbox rentals,
printing, notary public, and photocopying while providing
employment and training for workers with disabilities. These
employees are one of the reasons we have developed such a loyal
customer base. Our customers are able to meet their needs through a
service menu and feel great about patronizing a business that is
helping people with disabilities to learn work skills, earn wages,
and contribute in a positive way to their community.

... these individuals demonstrate their many abilities,
sending a loud and clear message that
people with disabilities make great employees and can overcome many
challenges.
When you visit our AIM Mail Center, located at
19051 Golden West St. in Huntington Beach, you will be greeted at
the door by a very enthusiastic worker. Other store associates
assist with selling postage stamps, inventory of store products, and
other mail services. With each and every transaction in the store,
these individuals demonstrate their many abilities, sending a loud
and clear message that people with disabilities make great employees
and can overcome many challenges.
Owning an AIM Mail Center has allowed Elwyn to reach new groups of
people with whom we are able to share our mission, history, and
success. This business ownership has provided a new marketing outlet
for business customers for our Fountain Valley work center, where we
provide an array of assembly and packaging
options. AIM also enhances marketing exposure for potential
employers who may hire people with disabilities in the community,
new donors to the organization, and new volunteers to serve the
agency.
“The initiatives developed by California
Elwyn to assist those with disabilities are outstanding and should
serve as a model to other organizations. I am proud that they have
chosen our city to debut this exciting program.” said Huntington
Beach Mayor, Debbie Cook. May 2002
